ROCKSKOOL – all music genres welcome
Our region is bursting with talent, and the AICM RockSkool is the perfect place for young people to jump-start their musical careers. Our program is proud to have played a major role in the musical journeys of many now well-known artists, including Caitlyn Shadbolt, Aspy Jones and The Dennis Sisters, to name just a few.
RockSkool brings talented young high school aged students together in bands to create their own unique style and sound. Band members are matched with others at a similar stage of musical development and with similar interests in music, and expertly mentored by our professional band coaches – teaching musicianship, arrangement, teamwork, stage presence, performance skills, and importantly, how to have a great time with music!
We believe that performance is a critical part of the learning process, and arrange regular opportunities for our bands to perform in the region, with performances at the Gympie Music Muster a real highlight of our year!
You don’t have to be an expert to join a band – just some musical ability, a love of music and a desire to take your passion to the next level. Musicians at all levels are welcome – from beginners through to seasoned performers. Not only for those wanting to carve out a long term musical career, the RockSkool program is also a great opportunity to simply come together with other like-minded musicians to have fun with music, and experience the thrill and exhilaration of performing live on stage. Lessons are held weekly during school terms, over 1.5 hours.
