Whether you’re just starting out on your musical journey or have a lot of musical experience, we’re keen to help you find your groove, offering a variety of classes and options for you to express your musical self.

ROCKSKOOL – all music genres welcome

Our region is bursting with talent, and the AICM RockSkool is the perfect place for young people to jump-start their musical careers. Our program is proud to have played a major role in the musical journeys of many now well-known artists, including Caitlyn Shadbolt, Aspy Jones and The Dennis Sisters, to name just a few.

RockSkool brings talented young high school aged students together in bands to create their own unique style and sound. Band members are matched with others at a similar stage of musical development and with similar interests in music, and expertly mentored by our professional band coaches – teaching musicianship, arrangement, teamwork, stage presence, performance skills, and importantly, how to have a great time with music!

We believe that performance is a critical part of the learning process, and arrange regular opportunities for our bands to perform in the region, with performances at the Gympie Music Muster a real highlight of our year!

You don’t have to be an expert to join a band – just some musical ability, a love of music and a desire to take your passion to the next level. Musicians at all levels are welcome – from beginners through to seasoned performers. Not only for those wanting to carve out a long term musical career, the RockSkool program is also a great opportunity to simply come together with other like-minded musicians to have fun with music, and experience the thrill and exhilaration of performing live on stage. Lessons are held weekly during school terms, over 1.5 hours.

As someone wise once said, “You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy guitars and that’s kind of the same thing”. The AICM’s Gusto Guitar group is a hive of activity for adult learners of all musical abilities, inspiring fun, happiness and confidence that comes with learning and mastering a new instrument.

In addition to weekly lessons, the group is very active in the community, playing regular gigs at community events and celebrations.

Gusto Guitar classes are held on Wednesday evenings in the auditorium (5.30pm – 8.30pm) and Thursday in the rehearsal room from 10am-12pm. Entry via the student entrance at 26 Channon St, Gympie.

The ukulele is taking the world by storm, ever increasing in popularity; as an easy, fun way to get involved with music. Weekly classes are held at the AICM for the young at heart, and welcome people at all levels of experience – from beginners to seasoned performers. Regular performance opportunities are available for you to show off your new talents and have a great time in the Gusto group. Lessons are held on Monday nights, from 5.30pm – 8.30pm.
